Governor Mutfwang declares 24hr curfew in Plateau

Plateau State Governor, Caleb  Mutfwang, has declared a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area of the state with immediate effect.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.

A statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Gyang Bere, says the decision was taken after consultations with relevant security agencies and to avoid breakdown of law and order in the local government area.

Bere advised citizens, especially Mangu residents, to comply with the sit-at-home order while only persons on essential duties are allowed to move within the local government area until further notice.

The governor expressed sympathy to families of the victims and the injured with assurances that government will not relent in ensuring lasting peace in the state.

“He urged all citizens, especially residents of Mangu Local Government Area, to comply with the directive and assist the security personnel by providing reliable information to restore peace and order in the area.
