As Nigeria joins other nations to mark World Youth Skills Day, a cross section of youths in Nasarawa State Wants the Federal and State Governments to provide an Entrepreneurship Youth Support Grant for the promotion of youth skills.
Describing the level of youth involvement in governance in Nigeria as low, a youth, miss Esther Markus who is a specialist in car polishing stressed the need for the political class to match words with action towards initiating programmes mainly for youth empowerment to promote peace and development.
Another youth, Mr Yakubu Mohammed who is into car washing said he resisted being lured into political thuggery to go into the business 12 years ago and he had no regrets for his choice.
He called on leaders at all levels to pay attention to promoting youth empowerment Programmes especially those who engaged in skillful ventures.
As for Glory John and Adedamola Demola who are graduates of Biochemistry and Accounting, they decided to stay back in Nasarawa State after their one year mandatory National Youth Service Scheme to learn bag making and other skills which according to them is paying off.
They stated that their businesses suffered setbacks in 2020 due to the lock down.
