Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the empowerment of women in the State.
Governor Yahaya Bello stated this in a message to a road walk organised by women in the State to mark the first year anniversary of the second tenure of his administration in Lokoja.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, the Governor said his administration has given women the opportunity to participate in governance by occupying sensitive positions .
He expressed appreciation to the women for their continued support to the present administration in the last five years and urged then to sustain the tempo.
Earlier, the convener of the walk and Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade said the women embarked on the walk in view of the recognition Governor Bello has given to the womenfolk,
and assured the Governor of their continuous support.
Also speaking, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Professor Marietu Tenuche, Provost, College of Education Technical, Kabba, Mrs Victoria Jagboro as well as College of Nursing, Obangede, Mrs Oziohu Abraham all extolled the developmental strides of the Governor and the need for him to vie for higher political office in twenty, twenty-three
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a letter by the women to the Governor, calling on him to contest for the office of the President in the next general election.
