Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashidat Bello says she will continue to pursue programmes that will guarantee upliftment of women, children and other vulnerable groups in the State.
Mrs Bello stated this in Okene while distributing empowerment start up tools to about 120 women who had undergone training in different vocations such as tailoring, hair dressing, weaving, catering as well as ICT.
She stressed that women play important roles in the society hence the need for them to be self sufficient and be able to support their families.
“The aim is to reduce poverty and make more women self reliant for the benefit of their children.” She explained.
Mrs Rashida Bello pointed out that the working tools had been provided for the women who ordinarily do not have the capacity to purchase them.
The Kogi State Governor’s Wife therefore urged the beneficiaries to put the materials to good use and further engage other women.
Some of the beneficiaries of the empowerment, Abdullahi Nana Hawa, Salihu Silifat and Hussainat Omeneke all appreciated the gesture , noting that the materials would help boost their livelihood.
Items distributed to the women include 33 industrial sewing machines, 28 Hair dryers and washing basins, 7 knitting machines, 3 weaving looms and assorted threads, 17 computer sets as well as 32 packages of
assorted catering items each including bags of flour, sugar, rolling pins and frying pans.
