The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says adequate arrangements have been concluded for Safe conduct of next week’s Governorship election in Edo State.
INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu stated this while briefing the Presidential Task Force On COVID-19 on the commission’s preparedness for the September 20 and October 10 gubernatorial election in Edo and Ondo States.
The Chairman said the commission had drawn up guidelines from the National COVID-19 Protocols to ensure safe conduct of the poll.
Prof. Yakubu said the Commission had been working with stakeholders including security agencies on total compliance to the COVID-19 Protocols for safe conduct of the election.
He emphatically stressed that any voter without Face Mask would not be allowed to cast votes on the election day.
According to him, PTF had provided enough Thermometers to check people’s temperature before they would be allowed into the collation centers.
While soliciting the support of political parties, media, accredited local and international observers towards peaceful conduct of Edo and Ondo governorship election, the INEC Chairman restated that the commission was ready to conduct free, fair, safe and acceptable elections in the states.
