Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN is to effectively collaborate with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC on effective security of lives and property at the grassroots. The Commandant General of VGN, Doctor Usman Mohammed Jahun stated this when he visited the Commandant General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Mohammed in Abuja. Doctor Mohammed Jahun said the collaboration became necessary to further protect lives and property of Nigerians in rural areas. According to the Commandant of VGN, the collaboration would focus on Agro Rangers and other ways of safeguarding Nigerians. He stated that the move would also go a long way in achieving the mandate of NSCDC in its operational activities. Doctor Mohammed Jahun explained that the collaboration would also bother on training of VGN Personnel towards achieving the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari in the area of security. The Commandant General of VGN therefore advised its officers and men to continue to work with NSCDC towards combating insecurity in the country. Earlier, the Commandant General of NSCDC commended VGN in it’s efforts at curtailing insecurity in the country. According to him, NSCDC is ready to partner with VGN in the task of protecting Nigerians from criminals. He therefore commended VGN for its support over the years to formal security agencies in the country. The Commandant General of NSCDC expressed satisfaction with VGN’s strategies on local intelligent gathering towards combating insecurity in rural areas. He therefore directed all NSCDC Commandants in all States of the Federation and FCT to work with VGN on Agro Rangers and other ways of protecting Nigerians from insurgents most especially in the northern part of the country.
