The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC wants road users to desist from drunk driving, excessive speeding and resist the temptation to drive recklessly to mitigate all incidences of road traffic crashes during the Valentine’s Day Celebration.
The Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyem while speaking in Abuja on the need for Nigerians to celebrate with modesty said all Commanding Officers across the country had been directed to double efforts by ensuring massive deployment of Officers and Men for enhanced visibility, adequate traffic control and maximum enforcement of all COVID-19 protocols amongst motorists.
According to the Corps Marshal, patrol Operatives had been deployed with breathalysers, and radar guns to ensure that suspected drunk drivers are tested and stopped from continuing their trips to avoid unnecessary deaths, injuries and damage to property.
Dr Oyeyemi noted that the Valentine celebration is a day set aside all over the world to celebrate love, exchange gifts, and show that we care for one another and as such, motorists must be exemplary by complying with all road traffic regulations
The FRSC Boss urged motorists to leverage on the FRSC 122 toll free line to call for emergency intervention in case of any crash, obstruction or when any drunk driver is sighted, for appropriate actions.
While reminding Nigerians to celebrate with strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols,, the Corps Marshal however called on all road users to respect Operatives deployed to ensure the safety of lives and property as their presence on roads was for the good of all.
