The United Patriots, UP says dissolution of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) has laid to rest the reign of impunity in the Country.

This is contained in a statement in Abuja signed by the National Chairman of the UP,
Chukwudi Ezeobika.

It commends the quick intervention of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in disbanding the operations of SARS operatives across the federation, stressing that innocent lives which would have been lost if violent protests continued have been saved.

“We believe in the capacity of the Nigerian Police to provide adequate security to the Nigerian people if they are properly funded and well equipped”

The current deplorable welfare and demeaning living and working conditions of Officers and Men of the Nigerian Police is of great concern to us as a Party.

It stresses the need to over haul the Police Force to meet international best standards to combat crime in the country.

The statement explains that a brief tour across the federation reveals the rot and deplorable conditions under which Officers of the Nigerian Police live and work in discharging the functions of their office and meeting the expectations of Nigerians.

“We call on the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to commence an immediate comprehensive verification of Police Officers across the federation with a view to aiding their training, retraining and certification as well as their welfare.
