UP Flays Exclusion Of Its Members By INEC In Kaduna, Jigawa & FCT Bye Election

The United Patriots, UP, has expressed concern over the exclusion of her successful Candidates who emerged at Party primaries from the list of Candidates recently released by INEC for the Jigawa, Kaduna and FCT bye election.

This is contained in a statement by the Chairman of UP, Mr. Chukwudi Ezeobika in Abuja.

It states that the exclusion confirms the resolve by INEC to further disenfranchise many Nigerian youths who have chosen to participate in the scheduled elections under the Party.

It explains that Mr. Murtala Mustapha who emerged as the Candidate for Gwaram federal Constituency election of Jigawa State and Mr. Hamza Dauda who emerged as the Party’s Candidate for the Sabon-Gari House of Assembly election of Kaduna State, had their names excluded from the list of Candidates published by INEC.

The statement says that Mr. Jezhi Mathew who emerged as the Party’s Candidate for the FCT Chairmanship election together with Mr. Solomon Zahun Moses and Mr. Jude Danjuma who emerged as Candidates for the Abuja Municipal Area Council and Bwari Area Council Councillorship positions were also excluded from the list of Candidates published by INEC.

“The exclusion of these Candidates from the scheduled election has once more brought to bear, the continued flouting of valid and subsisting judgements of Courts by INEC.

It stresses that the decision by INEC to exclude United Patriots from the by-election of Jigawa and Kaduna States as well as the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections of the FCT, will render the outcome of the election null as INEC has wilfully chosen to undermine the integrity of our Courts.

According to the statement in view of the foregoing, the United Patriots shall take the necessary legal steps to address the anomaly and give teaming Nigerian youths, the opportunity to lead and also be in government.
