Unions In Aviation Sector Reject Concession Of Airports

Unions in the Aviation sector at the Malam Aminu Kano International Aiport, Kano have staged a peaceful protest against plan to concession major Airports by the Federal Government .

The Unions also kicked against Government’s directive to return all staff that retired from 1st April, 2014 to the contributory pension scheme.

The staff carrying placards with various inscriptions moved around the airport premises singing solidarity songs.

They said the action was to prevail on the Federal Government to have a rethink in a positive direction.

Addressing journalists, Chairman of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade Sama’ila Muhammad Alkali, said the protest was organised to also reject in totality the movement of FAAN Staff to the contributory pension.

Leads to job losses and a threat to national security.

The unions that participated in the protest were National Union of Air Transpor Employees, Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals and the Air Services Senior Staff Association.
