The United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA has donated Personal Protective Equipment and Lifesaving commodities to nine states and the FCT to Fastrack the fight against COVID-19.
The Representative of UNFPA Mr. Babatunde Adelekan while handing over the commodities to Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils of the FCT in Abuja said this was part of the COVID-19 projects of the organization.
Mr. Babatunde who said UNFPA would not relent in its effort to fight against COVID-19 and other vices bedeviling the society.
Also the Director Finance and operations, Plan Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Nnadi Agha explained that the Lifesaving commodities were aimed at increasing access to Reproductive Health and Gender based violence response services in the states.
Receiving the items on behalf of Bwari and Abuja Municipal area Councils, Mr. Fatigun Olusegun and Mustafa Abdulkareem appreciated the organization for their support through training and donations.
They pledged to utilise the commodities effectively
The donation was second in the series and the two area Councils were selected based on the reports of it being the highest with COVID-19 burden.
