The Armed Forces says troops of Operation FIRE BALL under Operation LAFIYA DOLE has killed twenty two Boko Haram terrorists, destroyed their gun trucks and recovered arms and ammunition.
This is contained in a statement by the Acting Director Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko in Abuja.
The statement explains that in what could appear to be a suicide journey the BokoHaram/Islamic State of West African Province attacked the well fortified Army Super Camp Damboa under 25 Bde in Sector 2 and met their waterloo as they were repelled with superior fire power and additional fire support from the Air Task Force.
According to the statement, the terrorists suffered severe casualties as twenty two were neutralized while others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
It states that during the encounter, two Gun trucks were destroyed, while One NSV Anti Aircraft Gun, two Rockect Propelled Grenade Tubes, four PKT Machine guns, One General Purpose Machine Gun, One Browning Machine Gun, twelve Ak 47 Rifles, One AK 74 Rifle were recovered.
Other items recovered include One RPG 7 bomb, one hundred and sixteen Rounds of 7.62mm NATO and two Hand grenades.
The statement notes that few soldiers were wounded in action and have since been evacuated and receiving medical treatment.
The Military High Command commends troops of Operation Fire Ball under operation LAFIYA DOLE for the resilience, doggednes and commitment exhibited since the beginning of Operation FIRE BALL.
It equally encourages them not to rest on their oars but build on the successes recorded.
The statement further assures the entire populace of the North East of the Nigerian military high command determination to finally rout the remnants of the BHT/ISWAP criminals from their enclaves in this zone.
