Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of ASUSS

The National President, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Comrade Samuel Omaji has described the recent judgement by the Supreme Court in favour of the Union as historical and emancipation for Secondary School Teachers nationwide.

Comrade Omaji stated this while speaking to journalists on the judgement in Abuja.

He said the judgement giving complete independence to ASUSS from the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, in a long drawn legal tussle has proved the Judiciary as an impartial Umpire and the hope of the common man.

The National President commended the Minister of Labour and Employment for granting the approval for the registration of ASUSS as a Trade Union, assuring of the Union’s commitment to the ongoing reforms in the education sector.

Comrade Samuel Omaji however expressed disappointment over the reactions by the NUT on the judgement of the Apex Court which set aside the Appeal Court ruling of the eleventh of July, twenty fourteen in favour of ASUSS.

He also expressed appreciation to Secondary School Teachers who over the years had remained committed to the struggle of an independent Union to fight for their welfare.
