Supreme Court Judge, Nwali Sylvester Nguta Is Dead

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced the death of Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta who died today at the National Hospital, Abuja.

This is contained in a statement by the Chief Registrar of the court, Hadizatu Uwani Mustapha in Abuja.

According to the statement, Justice Ngwuta was appointed Supreme Court Justice on March 22, 2011 and was due to retire this month.

The statement says Justice Ngwuta who was born on March 30, 1951 in Amofia-Ukawu, Onicha Local Government of Ebonyi State, had his basic education in the Eastern part of Nigeria and obtained his LLB in University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, lle-ife in 1977 as well as BL at the Nigerian law school in 1978.

According to the statement his remains has been deposited at the National Hospital mortuary pending arrangement for his burial.

The statement says the Court prays that the soul of Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta rest in peace and grant his family, the Judiciary and the apex court the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
