The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has commenced training of 98 Independent Monitors for its National social Investment Program in Plateau State.
Speaking at the commencement of the training in Jos, the Minister, Hajiya Sadia Umar Faroq said the initiative was to ensure that all components of the program were implemented.
The programs are the Conditional Cash Transfer, the Home Grown School Feeding Program, the Government Enterprise and Development Program as well as the N-power.
Hajiya Sadia Umar Faroq stressed the commitment of the ministry to ensure that whatever trickles down gets to the beneficiaries.
Representated by her Technical Adviser, Retired Group Captain Sadiq Garba Shehu, the Minister explained that the Independent Monitors were not working for Government but chosen from their Individual Local Government Areas to ensure that the programs were fully implemented.
Hajiya Sadia Umar Faroq said her Ministry would also monitor the Independent Monitors as it treats every complain and observation with all seriousness.
In an address, the Special Adviser to Plateaue State Governor on Social Investment Program, Hajiya Summaya Hamza was optimistic that there would be a substantial improvement of the programs with the engagement of the Independent Monitors.
Hajiya Summaya Hamza said the program was a normal routine and not meant to witchunt anyone.
In an address, the Plateau State Director of the National Orientation Agency Mr Nanyak Zimkat described the program as a great initiative towards ensuring that the target audience are captured .
