The Senate has given expeditious consideration to the 2022 – 2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework ( MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper ( FSP) , forwarded to it by President Muhammadu Buhari for approval , by setting Thursday for passage of the request .
This is as indicated in the request by the Federal government proposing N13.98trillion as aggregate expenditure for 2022 fiscal year .
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan had at the beginning of plenary , read a letter containing the request from President Buhari to the Senators .
The Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, on the strength of Order 1(b) of the Senate Standing Rules moved a motion for consideration of the request immediately by forwarding it to relevant committees for necessary legislative inputs between Tuesday and Wednesday and submission of report on Thursday .
Upon secondment of the motion by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe the President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan put it to voice votes with the Ayes having it .
Lawan accordingly refereed the documents to the Senate joint Committees on Finance , National Planning , Banking , Petroleum ( Upstream) , Petroleum ( Downstream) as well as Foreign and Local Debts for required consideration at the Commitee level .
Senator Lawan described the MTEF and FSP as an important request from President Buhari stressing that it must be considered and approved before proceeding on the long recess Thursday this week.
