Senate Suspends Plenary To Honour Deceased Lawmakers

The Senate today suspended plenary in honour of deceased lawmakers from the House of Representatives.

The suspension was in accordance with Senate standing rules to honour serving lawmakers who lost their lives.

The deceased lawmakers are: Suleiman Aliyu Lere, who represented Lere constituency of kaduna state and Haruna Murtala , who represented Jos North and Bassa constituency of Plateau State.

The red chamber observed a minute silence and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed lawmakers.

The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, adjourned sitting to the next legislative day.
