Senate President Salutes Nigerian Workers On May Day

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has fecilitated with Nigerian Workers as they join the rest of the world in commemorating the International Workers Day.

Lawan in a statement by his special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi notes that May First is significant in the life of every worker hence every worker needs to be celebrated as the creator of wealth.

Senator Lawan says he stands with the Nigerian workers on this occasion of International Solidarity and Unity.

He notes that the Nigerian Labour Movement has a proud heritage beginning from the heroic contributions of its founding fathers like Pa Micheal Imodu and his contemporaries in the struggle for the independence of Nigeria and emancipation of workers and the masses.

The lawmaker commends the patience, understanding and resilience of Nigerian Workers in the face of the current challenges facing the nation .

The president of the Senate insists that the National Assembly believes in the well-being and welfare of the workers and will always provide legislative support for every effort to tackle their challenges and improve the work environment.

Senator Lawan however urges the organised labour to always look at the larger picture and consider national interest in their responses to government policies and actions.
