Senate Donates ₦10m To Army Hospital Kaduna, To Treat WIAs

The Senate has donated ten million naira to the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, to assist wounded in Action soldiers,WIAs.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan who made the donation in kaduna in the presence of the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and some principal officers of the Senate said the donation was part of activities to mark
the second anniversary of the ninth Senate.

Senator Lawan pledged that the national Assembly would continue to appropriate funds to the military for optimal performance.

He added that the N895 billion supplementary budget recently forwarded to the National Assembly by the Presidency for purchase of military equipment and COVID-19 vaccines , would be expeditiously considered and passed.

Senator Lawan gave the assurance that more funds would be appropriated to the military in the 2022 budget.

Earlier, the Acting Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Colonel Stephen Onuchukwu who told the lawmakers that the hospital has a 600 – bed capacity explained that some of the wounded Soldiers were maimed for life and required cutting edge medical facilities to keep them alive .

Onuchukwu who is an Orthopedic Consultant, specifically declared that the 44 Army Reference Hospital, kaduna alone, has a total of 7, 403 wounded soldiers in action who have been received , treated and some undergoing treatment
