Security Agencies have been urged to adopt a more intelligence based approach towards addressing security challenges in the Country.
A Professor Of Criminology and Security Studies, Sam Smah gave the advice at a Lecture organised by NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel in Abuja.
Professor Smab who was the Guest Speaker, noted that security and other challenges confronting the Country had been in existence since independence.
He explained that until there was a review in the various strategies by the Federal Government, the issues would remain unsolved.
While encouraging the media to pursue truth at all times, Professor Smah emphasized the need for new approaches to tackle security challenges.
In an address, the Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman, represented by the Director News, Alhaji Sani Suleiman while stressing the need for more synergy between the media and security agencies, maintained that FRCN would continue to disseminate content aimed at enhancing security and unity in the Country.
On his part, the Chairman, NUJ FCT Chapter, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche described the the lecture as timely.
In a welcome address, the Chairperson NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel, Mrs Sandra Udeike said the lecture was organised to find lasting solutions to the security challenges in the Country.
She urged Government to look into media salary structure to enable the media perform optimally.
In a message, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed advised the media to shun fake news and carry out their responsibilities professionally.
