Safe Motherhood Day : KNSG To Address Maternal Mortality Challenges

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed determination in ensuring that all Women receive the necessary care to be healthy throughout pregnancy and Childbirth.

The State Commissioner For Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this while briefing Journalists during the National Safe Motherhood Day Celebration in Kano.

He said Kano State Government had placed priority on saving lives of women and Children through strengthening the Health care system at all levels .

“Kano State Government provides free Maternal and Child Health Services aimed at preventing Maternal and Child Death in the State”

Dr Aminu Ibrahim tsanyawa explained that under the policy pregnant women were Provided with free health care services from conception through delivery to post Natal care services.

He noted that in an effort to ensure adequate improvement of the health sector Kano state Government was earmarking five percent of the internally Generated revenue to the Health sector.

The Commissioner maintained that 1,130 female Community Volunteers and 220 Community Engagement Focal persons have been Trained to Promote Maternal and Child Health in Community levels .

“The state Government supplied over 7000 Branded wrappers for distribution to pregnant Women Who Attended Antenatal care and delivered in the hospital geared towards encouraging hospital delivery”

Dr Aminu Ibrahim tsanyawa added that Government had spent Over 200 million Naira in the renovation of 88 facilities to provide Comprehensive services including Skilled birth Attendance, Child Birth Spacing , Prevention of maternal to Child Transmission of HIV, integrated Management of Childhood illness Among others.
