Research Institute Advocates Accurate Data For Persons With Disability

The Africa Polling Institute has advocated accurate data of persons with disability (PWDs) in the country towards meeting their needs .

The Executive Director of the institute, Prof Bell ihua made the call at a Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Nigeria Disability Research Project, held in Abuja.

Mr Ihua noted that the project which is aimed at gathering evidence-based data on Persons With Disability (PWDs) in the country would serve as a reference in future.

The executive director of the institute also advised states that are yet to domesticate the Disability Act, to do so for speedy implementation.

In her remarks, the National President, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabiliy, Ekaete Umoh, said the outcome of the research would enable the PWDs have constructive engagements with the government.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the Albino Foundation, Mr .Jake Epelle said the foundation would support the project to ensure it is captured at the national level.
