The House of representatives is to come up with a legislation that will hold companies accountable to their responsibilities to host communities.
The Chairman House Committee on Host Communities , Dekor Robinson from Rivers State stated this at the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja.
According to the lawmaker, the committee which is saddled with the responsibility of looking into the issues affecting host communities in Nigeria will come up with a legal framework that will address these issues.
Mr. Robinson while highlighting some of the challenges of host communities stressed the need to change the narratives of unfair treatment and injustice suffered by these communities.
The Chairman urged the committee members to come up with useful ideas that would enable them deliver on their mandate.
