09 July 2021 by Aisha Adesanya

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been urged to send enumerators
to Kebbi State to register Farmers.

This is the resolution of a motion sponsored by Member Representing Maiyama Koko Besse Federal Constituency of Kebbi State at plenary.

The lawmaker said the Government and people of Kebbi State were not informed by
official communication, advertisement or jingle on the registration exercise of Farmers in Nigeria for the purpose of fertilizer subsidy for the
2021 farming season.

Koko also expressed regret that only ninety-five thousand farmers were registered
in a State where over 90% of the population are farmers.

Adopting the resolutions to the motion, the House also mandated its Committee on Agricultural Production and Services to interface with
the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to ascertain the criteria used in
appointing enumerators used for Registration of Farmers as well as the fertilizer subsidy regime
for farmers in Nigeria.
