The Report of the Committee on Health Institutions on a Bill for an Act to Establish the Federal Medical Centre,Hong, Adamawa State;and other related Matters, has been adopted by the House of Representatives.
The Bill, sponsored by Member representing Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency of Adamawa State Yusuf Buba Yakub, asides seeking to Establish the Federal Medical Centre,Hong, also provides the needed legal framework for its Management and Administration.
According to him the Federal Medical Center when established will bridge the huge gap in Healthcare delivery in the area and parts of the neighbouring Borno State.
The Lawmaker also commended his colleagues for supporting the Bill which he said is of utmost importance to many across Adamawa State.
Buba Yakub ,who is also Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs urged the Senate to expeditiously offer its concurrence to the Bill for its onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.
Many Stakeholders from Adamawa State and neighbouring States had gathered at the Public Hearing of the Bill ,which was organized in May by the House Committee on Health Institutions in solidarity of the proposed legislation.
They all welcomed the idea of establishing a Federal Medical Centre from the upgraded facilities of the General Hospital, Hong, saying that the Federal Government had done its best to prepare the Health Facility for the new Status and Role.
