The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested Fifty one suspected looters and made recoveries of some looted items at the Jabi-Daki-biu, Idu Industrial Estate and Karimo axis, following the wanton looting and vandalization of public and private warehouses by hoodlums.
The Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma made this known during a media briefing in Abuja.
The Commissioner who sounded a warning to persons engaged in all forms of criminality especially the looting and vandalization within the FCT, said the command would not condone any act that could undermine the safety of lives and property of residents.
Ciroma reiterated that the move is in compliance with the directives of the Inspector -General police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, on the mobilization of all police operational assets to avert further damage on public – private property and prevent all forms of violence.
” the Command has deployed tactical strategies such as diligent motorized and foot patrol , deployment of personnel to key infrastructures, collaboration with sister security agencies , partnership with community stakeholders and other covet strategies”
While appealing to FCT residents to remain law abiding and calm , the Police Commissioner reassured residents of the unflinching commitment of the Command to provide adequate security within the nation’s Capital City.
It could be recalled that in the last few weeks, the FCT and other parts of the Federation have witnessed various forms of protest under different guises some of which have taken different dimensions and resulted in loss of lives, wanton destruction of property and looting.
