Politicians Advocate More Participation Of Women In Governance

The National Assembly has been called upon to strenghten laws that will encourage women participation in politics for everyone to be carried along in governance.

The Chairperson, Young Democratic Party, YDP, Mrs Georgina Dakpokpo made the call while featuring on Politics Today, a Kapital FM Current Affairs Programme.

Mrs Dakpokpo who expressed worry over the low level of women participation in politics said if women were given a level playing ground in governance, the Country would witness rapid socio-economic growth.

The chairperson YDP, lamented that godfatherism has hindered active participation of women in the nation’s politics.

Also speaking in the Programme, the women Leader, Young Progressive Party, YPP, Mrs Binta Suleiman called on Nigerian women to actively participate in politics for inclusive and good governance .

Mrs Sulieman noted that women who had been at the helms of affairs in Government performed creditbly well in their respective positions which shows that what a man can do, a woman can do it better.
