Politician Calls For Credible Conduct Of Edo, Ondo Governorship Election

The Former Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Retired Major General John Gbor has called for a credible and violence free Governorship election in Edo and Ondo States scheduled for September and October this year. Retired Major General Gbor made the call in Abuja while receiving State Coordinators of a Non Governmental Organization, Network of Leaders Alliance. The Former APGA Presidential Candidate who expressed concern over electoral malpractices in the country said the only way to ensure good governance and leadership was through free and fair elections. He also stressed the need for people of the States to shun vote buying and elect Governors that would deliver dividends of democracy to them. Retired Major General Gbor advised INEC and Security Agencies to be committed to the success and peaceful conduct of the elections. While urging all political parties and stakeholders in the polls to give peace a chance, Major General Gbor said election was all about service to humanity and not avenue for illegal wealth acquisition. He also reminded the National Assembly on the need to commence work on the electoral Bill to strengthen the nation’s democratic system. Earlier, the National Coordinator of the Organization, Doctor John Paul said the visit was to recognize the contributions of Major General John Gbor to the well being of the less privileged, youths and women in the society. Doctor Paul expressed the readiness of the Organization to support Major General John Gbor’s activities in uplifting the living standard of Nigerians through his Foundation.
