Police In Nassarawa Arrest Adviser To Gov Sule For Vandalism

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspects for alleged vandalism of rail tracks and other public infrastructure .

Commissioner of Police in the state Mr. Bola Longe who paraded the suspects before newsmen in Lafia said they were arrested while carting away rail sleepers and tracks at two different locations in Lafia and Keana Local Government Areas of the state.

He stated that the suspected rail line vandals include a Special Adviser to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Infrastructure, Mr Yusuf Abubakar, a former supervisory councillor on education, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Mohammed Isiaka, a police officer and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

According to the police Commissioner, Manager of a Chinese firm, Yong Xing Steel Company in Tunga Maje, Abuja, Mr. Marra Thai was also apprehended for allegedly committing the same offence.

Mr. Bola Longe expressed concern that suspected vandals had turned the Nigerian Railway tracks traversing some major cities and villages in Nasarawa State en route Benue State to gold mines.

Also paraded were 50 suspects for alleged armed robbery, kidnapping and other offences committed between March and May this year.

Items recovered from the suspects include 5 firearms, 2 live ammunition, 6 vehicles, 3 Motorcycles and cash amounting to N 760,000.
