The Kano State Police Command has arrested 259 suspected criminals in six weeks on various crimes, ranging from kidnapping, sim cards racketeering, car theft and armed robbery.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Ahmad, made the discloseure while briefing newsmen at the Command’s Headquarters, Bompai Kano.
He said the arrests were made from July 23 to Sept.8, as part of efforts in figthing all forms of crimes in the State.
Habu sani maintained that the success was achieved as a result of the strategy under the guidance and directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu.

He disclosed that the suspects were arrested at different times and locations within and outside the State.
The Commissioner noted that police arrested 45 suspected armed robbers; eight members of kidnapping syndicate, 14 motor vehicle thieves, seven tricycle thieves and 14 motorcycle thieves in addition to apprehending eight suspected drug dealers, 28 fraudsters and 146 thugs.
The Commissioner noted that the command had also rescued four victims on solitary confinement and another four kidnapped victims .
He said the command had also recovered 10 rifles including one AK 47 rifle, two pistols, four locally made guns, three locally made pistols and 79 live ammunition.
“13 motor vehicles, 7 tricycles, 9 motorcycles, 914 prcels of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp weighing 548.4kg valued N4.5 million.
” three jerry cans containing 25 litres each of suck and die, four cartons of rubber solution, 200 cartons of suspected fake drugs without NAFDAC nunber valued at N4 million”
Habu Ahmad sani further explained that the command also recovered 82 bottles of codeine syrup valued N123,000, 84 assorted knives, 73 GSM handsets ,one point of sale(POS) machine, 985 used MTN sim cards and 46 9-mobile used sim cards.
“16 used Airtel sim cards, 7 different ATM cards, one plasma TV valued at N90,000, one laptop HP model G7 valued N120,000, one IPhone 11 valued N350,000 and IPhone 6 valued N85,000”.
He revealed that the command recovered 1,958 cartons of indomie out of 3,850 cartons diverted and sold out meant for Benue State palliative tagged CA-Covid-19 valued N4 million.
He commended the people of the State for their cooperation, prayers, and solicited more support to drive Community Policing further to the grassroots, to make the state peaceful.
