Plateau State Government has outlined activities to mark this year’s Democracy Day.
The Commissioner of information and communication, Dan Manjang who stated this while briefing newsmen in Jos said the programme is symbolic as it also marks Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s two years in office.
This year’s celebration will be Nigeria’s 22nd year of uninterrupted democracy since 1999
He said the administration recorded tremendous success that is anchored on a three point policy thrust of sustainable peace, security and good governance, Infrastructural development and entrepreneurship as well as economic rebirth.
According to him, Governor Lalong will inaugurate projects in the three Senatorial zones of the state as part of his mid term achievements to mark his second term in office.
Manjang said, the Governor would flag off inauguration of the projects on the 9th of June at the Southern senatorial zone of the state and round off on the 12th of June at the Northern senatorial zone.
The Commissioner said the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat being remodeled by the Lalong administration would also be inaugurated.
He said a special Muslim prayer would be held on Friday the 11th of June, a special golf kitty, a Town Hall meeting and a banquet to mark the Democracy Day.
An interdenominational church service was held yesterday at the Government House chapel, Rayfield Jos as part of activities to kick start the celebration.
