Plateau State Embarks On Aggressive Revenue Drive

13 January 2021 by Josiah Buzun
The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service says it has adopted a strategy tagged Explosive Revenue Drive, ERED in its approach towards the 2021 revenue generation and collection.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr Arlat Dasogot said the approach would include massive taxpayers registration, taxpayers representatives approach, increase revenue assessment and improved record keeping and data management.
Others are prompt objective and appeal processes, close monitoring of compliance on interest payment, tax payers service and education initiatives and full automation of all processes among others.
Mr Dasogot said with the unprecedented drop of crude oil prices that resulted in the drop in statutory revenue allocation to the State, taxation, charging fees, fines, levies for services and other forms of documentation have become a ready made alternative source of revenue.
This he said had become a challenge with the attendant lockdown across States and the country which is affecting economic activities.
