The Plateau State House of Assembly has expressed its commitment towards appropriating funds to develop rural Communities in the State.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nuhu Ayuba stated this at the inauguration of Rural Water Projects with Toilets and Hand Washing Facilities at Kperie community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The project was carried out by a Non Governmental Organization, Appropriate Technology and Expertise TASTE in collaboration with the member representing Irigwe/ Rukuba Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Represented by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Sale Yepmang, the Speaker said the State had witnessed significant increase in water related facilities, noting that the water project would significantly reduce cases of water borne diseases.
Country Director, TASTE, Nuhu Yakubu restated their resolve towards ensuring that rural and vulnerable communities had access to clean water and sanitary facilities.
Mr.Yakubu noted that constant hand washing will reduce 30 to 50% of respiratory diseases and infection among Nigerians.
According to him, the toilets would also address the issue of open defecation .
The member representating Irigwe/ Rukuba constituency in the State House of Assembly Musa Aga also said he would partner with the NGO for improved services to his people.
Mr.Aga assured his people that they would enjoy more dividends of democracy.
