The Federal Capital Territory, Primary Health Care Board, in collaboration with an NGO, Alive and Thrive, have launched the first ever Zero Water Campaign, for the 2020, World Breastfeeding Week.
Addressing Journalists at Gosa Community in Abuja, the FCT Nutrition Coordinator, Mrs Clementina Okoro, explained that the Zero Water Campaign initiative was borne out of the need to support women’s access to skilled breastfeeding counselling and promote exclusive breastfeeding in the country.
Mrs Okoro who said it was imperative to improve on exclusive breastfeeding in Nigeria, which was the global recommendation, added that the campaign had already yielded results in Gosa community.
Mrs Okoro however stressed that the Zero Water Campaign would be extended to other parts of the Area Councils.
In a remark, the Hakimi of Gosa Community, Chief Ishaku Nana, who commended the organizers for the initiative, appealed for additional manpower and basic facilities for the Health Center.
