Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state says peace and Harmony are key to ensuring a United Nigeria irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliations.
Ganduje stated this at a ceremony in Kano to mark Democracy Day.
He urged leaders of all ethnic groups to engage their people on ways to achieve peace and unity in the country.
The Governor Noted that Governors across the country have resolved to work with the Federal Government to bring lasting solution to the lingering problem of insecurity in the country.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit to honour the late MKO Abiola with a post-humours award and celebration of Democracy Day on June 12.
“You are most welcome to this memorable occasion, that is the Democracy Day. We thank President Buhari for given Abiola a post-humous award”
“we are working together to ensure that insecurity is eradicated in the country, We are happy that the new service chiefs are committed towards this task; and I am sure President Muhammadu Buhari is giving them all the needed support.”
The Governor also expressed happiness with the stance of the Igbo Cultural group Ohanaeze Ndigbo for believing in one strong entity, Nigeria.
“the position taken by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has debunked all rumours, speculations and fears of the imminent break of Nigeria as championed by some unpatriotic elements amongst the Igbo speaking people”
The ceremony was graced by All progressive Congress Stalwarts , Government officials and other stakeholders
