Over 50, 000 Persons With Disability To Benefit From FG’s Intervention Progs

Over fifty thousand Persons With Disability are to benefit from the federal government’s post Covid-19 intervention fund.

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons With Disability, Mr James Lalu who made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja said the measure was part of Federal Government’s efforts to cushion the effects of the pandemic on members.

Mr Lalu also explained that the intervention was to ensure the inclusion of Persons with disability in all government’s programmes.

The Executive Secretary hinted that beneficiaries would be selected from all the seven hundred and seventy four local government areas of the federation.

According to him, the fifty thousand is the first batch of beneficiaries as more members would be captured subsequently.

Mr Lalu also pointed out that the commission was collaborating with some tertiary institutions and state governments to enhance the capacity of persons with disability in areas of education and skills acquisition.

The Executive Secretary however urged members to avail themselves the opportunity available in the federal government’s intervention programmes.
