Ondo: INEC Reiterates Readiness To Conduct Credible Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is ready to conduct a free, fair and Credible Governorship election in Ondo State.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Dr. Rufus Akeju, who made this known during a webinar with the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room in Abuja, said training had also commenced for security personnel and adhoc staff that will be deployed for the election.

He explained that four officers would be deployed at each polling unit and would not be allowed to bear arms within the voting areas

Dr. Akeju, said engagement with stakeholders was ongoing, logistics, Smart Card verification and delivery of non sensitive materials had been concluded as well as delivered at the various centers.

The conveyner of the Civil Society Situation Room Dr. Clement Nwankwo explained that the meeting was organised to discuss the level of INEC’s preparedness and measures put in place to check possible outbreak of violence during and after the poll.
