Older Persons Commend PMB For Endorsing National Policy On Ageing

The Coalition of Societies For The Rights Of Older Persons In Nigeria has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for endorsing the National Policy on Ageing.

The President of the Coalition, Senator Eze Ajoku gave the commendation at a cocktail organized to mark this year’s valentine for Older Persons in Abuja.

Senator Eze Ajoku said the Policy when implemented would provide the synergy needed to address challenges confronting older persons in the country.

According to him, necessary government agencies and stakeholders are expected to come together and fashion out strategies that would improve the well being of the elderly in the society.

Senator Eze Ajoku stated that a Bill on Older Persons Rights and Privileges is already before the National Assembly.

He explained that the Bill which had passed second reading when fully endorsed would go a long a way in putting smiles on the faces of older persons

Senator Eze Ajoku who stated that the valentine cocktail was organized to show love to the elderly stressed the need for Nigerians to always give priority to the welfare of older persons in the society

He reiterated the commitment of the Coalition to activities that would alleviate the plight of the elderly across the country.
