The Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi says the area needs more Federal attention even as the Country celebrates her 60th Independence.
Okun is the Yoruba speaking part of Kogi State with five Local Government Areas including Lokoja Local Government.
Worried by the level of underdevelopment in Okun land, Oba Owoniyi while speaking with Newsmen on the 60th Independence of Nigeria, said “Okun Land needs more attention especially Federal presence.
He said currently, most of the Federal roads in Kogi State were in poor state, pointing out that the Rice Mill at Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area was yet to be fully tapped due to the dilapidated nature of the road.
The Obaro also identified community self help effort as Paramount to the development of Okun land and called on public spirited Okun sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora to develop their communities as government alone cannot do it.
According to him, Nigeria had made remarkable progress in the last 60 years as an Independent state.
He however called on government at all levels to give more attention to the welfare of the traditional institution.
