The management of the NYSC has confirmed its readiness to reopen orientation camps Nation wide following compulsory closure of the camps due to the covid 19 pandemic.
Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Ibrahim shuaibu confirmed this to newsmen at the NYSC 2020 batch B pre- orientation workshop held in Jos Plateau State.
Brigadier General Ibrahim Shuaibu explained that amid other measures taken to ensure a seamless exercise, the scheme interfaced effectively with the NCDC and PTF .
The DG further explained that the Corp Members whose orientation was suspended due to the pandemic would join the Batch B for the orientation exercise.
Declaring the workshop open the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong pledged to work closely with the scheme in ensuring safety of staff and corps members.
He appealed to all concerned to observe covid 19 safety guidelines as the fight against the virus is ongoing.
Plateau State Coordinator of the scheme, Caroline Embu appreciated the DG of the scheme, Plateau State Governor and all collaborative agencies for their continued support to the scheme.
The NYSC Batch B pre orientation workshop which began on Tuesday in Jos has in attendance all Directors, Camp Commandants, State Coordinators among others from all over the Federation .
The theme of the workshop is “evolving a dynamic operational strategy in the management of camps in the context of Covid 19”
The workshop is aimed at evaluating covid 19 safety protocols for a successful conduct of the forthcoming exercise.
