NYCN Advises Labour To Rescind Decision To Embark On Strike

The National Youth Council of Nigeria has condemned the proposed Strike by Labour Unions over the hike in petroleum Pump Price and electricity tariff describing it as politically motivated.

The President of the Council, Comrade Solomon Adodo stated this in Abuja at a news briefing to solicit the support of Nigerians towards growing the nation’s economy.

Comrade Adodo who pointed out that the leadership of the two Labour Unions have been compromised by some individuals, emphasized that the removal of subsidy has a lot of benefits for the masses.

He also observed that with the current realities across the globe on oil downturn, it would be counter productive for Nigeria to hold on to subsidy.

Comrade Adodo enjoined the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress to reconsider its decision and work towards negotiating better Welfare for members.

The president acknowledged that the country was facing a critical time but stressed that huge opportunity lies in various sectors to improve the nation’s economy.
