NUT Urges Members To Be Resolute & Await Outcome Of Case With ASUSS

The Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, has called on members to remain committed to the unity and progress of the union while awaiting the outcome of its ongoing suit with the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, at the Appeal Court.

The National President of the Union, Doctor Nasir Idris made the call at a news briefing in Abuja.

Doctor Nasir Idris who was represented by the deputy National President, Mr Kelvin Nwankwo said it was the responsibility of members to remain law abiding and disregard fake reports that the court had already settled the matter.

The National President maintained that the Union had the backing of the law to represent the interest of all teachers in none tertiary academic institutions in the country.

Some members of the Union led by Mr Samuel Omaji had pulled out of NUT to form the Academic Staff Union of Secondary School Teachers.
