National Population Commission says it has deployed the latest technology to enhance accurate and reliable area demarcation across the Country.
Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Nasir Kwarra stated this at a stakeholders awareness workshop on the 11th phase of Enumeration Area Demarcation in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Alhaji Nasir Kwarra represented by the National Commissioner in Charge of Benue State, Mrs Patricia Oti said the National Population Commission was committed to achieving a population census that would stand the test of time and used for contact tracing in times of outbreak of a pandemic, Security surveillance and crime detection among other functions.
He stated that the new technology adopted for the excersise include High Resolution Satellite Imageries, computer Soft wares for population estimation, Global Positioning System for Geo Referencing and Geographic Information System for data management as well as hand held devices and tablets.
Governor Abdullahi Sule said the State had been denied of equitable share of national resources due to inaccurate population figure.
Governor Abdullahi Sule assured the Commission of every support throughout the period of the Population Enumeration Area Demarcation excersise.
Participants at the workshop include traditional rulers, Chairmen of the thirteen Local Government areas of the State and community leaders.
