NPC Debunks Rumours Of Including Religion , Ethnicity In Census Pretest Questionnaire

The Chairman, National Population Commission, NPC, Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra has debunked rumours being circulated on the social media that the Commission had included religion, ethnicity and culture in the questionnaires being administered to respondents where the census pre test were conducted.

Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra stated this while briefing Journalists on the first Pre test for the next Population and Housing Census in Kano.

The Chairman who was Represented by the agency’s State Director in Kano Alhaji Isma’il Dogo said the Commission had received information on the negative postings about the Commission on Social media.

He said the rumour was false and fabricated to tarnaish the image and good work of the Commission.

Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra Explained that the Commission had intensified the Enumeration Area Demacation Activity with 630 local Government Areas .

He said the Commission intends to Complete the demarcation of All the 774 Local Government Areas of the Country in the Next three Months.

The Chairman noted that the 2021 Census Pre test was targeted at assessing the quality and Usefulness of the Enumeration Areas and Maps already created with a view to ensuring that the forthcoming census achieved success.

Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra maitained that other objectives of the census pre test were to assess Demographic and geographic Changes in the Enumeration Areas in 2016 – 2018 aimed at providing a way forward.

The Chairman further stated that the first Pre test exercise would take place in 222 Enumeration Areas in 112 LGA’s across the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT that were demarcated during the 2016-2018 Enumeration Area Demarcation exercise.

He added that the Enumeration Area Demarcation would involve a total of 894 field fuctionaries which Comprises of 444 Enumerators ,37 supervisors and 37 Monitors.
