The National Information and Technology Development Agency, NITDA is to redouble efforts in implementation of the data protection policy in the country
The Director General of the Agency Kachifu Inuwa Abdullahi stated this during a virtual media conference to mark the National Privacy Week 2021 in Abuja.
Mr Inuwa explained that enforcing compliance would help stimulate economic growth of the digital economy.
“We are going to rejig our enforcement mechanism to improve compliance as covid -19 slowed down our enforcement of vision 2020, but we are going to redouble our efforts in this direction as data Protection has become a continued growth of the digital economy “.
The Director General also highlighted that the agency is committed towards actualizing the full Protection and implementation of the Nigeria Data policy protection in the nation.
“While we await the passage of the data protection bill, NITDA will continue to lay necessary structures to deepen data Protection implementation in Nigeria “
He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment in strengthening the Nigerian Data regulation policy to protect the data of Nigerians .
