NIPRID Takes Step Towards Local Production Of Drugs

Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulraman Abdulrazak TV has reiterated his administration’s commitment to support the production of herbal medicines in the State.

Governor Abdulraman stated this at the Phytomedicine Training Conference organized by National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, NIPRID in Ilorin.

He said Kwara State was blessed with different herbal medicines that cure various ailments but there was need to gather data and information scientifically on their appropriate uses.

The Governor affirmed that with the various researches being carried out by herbal medicine producers Covid19 would soon be a thing of history.

In his lecture, The Director General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research, Dr Obi Adigwe who described Phytomedicines as herbal medicines with therapeutic and healing properties said the essence of the conference was to increase awareness on the benefits and value of Phytomedicine for promotion of the health of Nigerians.

Dr Obi added that the mission of the Institution was to apply appropriate modern science and technology sources to stimulate local production of drugs through effective collaboration with the industry and experts within and outside Nigeria.
