Defence Headquarters says Over one hundred and fifty armed bandits have been arrested and one hundred and eleven terrorists killed during various Military Operations across the country.
The Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters Major General John Enenche who made this known at a media briefing in Abuja said thousands of illegally refined petroleum products were also recovered.
General Enenche noted that troops continued to record significant successes in the month of August.
He stated that the achievements during the period under review included the elimination of several insurgents and bandits, recovery of rustled livestock, arms and ammunition as well as arrest of suspected illegal miners in Zamfara state.
The Coordinator also pointed out that troops of Operation Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke in the North Central engaged in non Kinetic operations through reconciliation processes with stakeholders in Kaduna, Plateau and Benue states which led to restoration of peace and return of economic and farming activities.
General Enenche also said that the reinforcement of special forces in Southern Kaduna was yeilding positive results.
In the South South zone, the Coordinator maintained that troops of Operation Delta Safe through its subsidiary operation; Silent Heat, Calm Waters II, Swift Response and Nigerian Navy Ship Victory arrested Smugglers and pipeline vandals and recovered thousands of illegally refined petroleum products.
General Enenche while appealing to Stakeholders in various committees not to allow their children and wards to be exposed to some doctrines that could lead them into joining terrorists sects, explained that the over four hundred Darul Salam terrorists group who surrendered were being profiled for further action.
He advised others who were yet to surrender to do so as the Military would leave no stone unturned to treat them like other terrorists.
