After losing 32-15 in their classification match for 5th on Wednesday, the Nigerian ladies slumped to a battling 21-25 defeat to Guinea Conakry, yesterday.
Nigeria thus finished eighth at the Championship it has not attended in over 26 years.
In fact, the Coach Rafiu Salami tutored side started the match like a house on fire against the ladies from Conakry but they couldn’t outrightly outshine their opponent as the first half ended in a pulsating 11-11 draw.
The result means the National Women Handball Team played seven matches, lost 6 and won one, against Kenya, in Group B .
Nigeria qualified for the quarterfinals of the Senior Women’s Handball Nation’s Cup for the first time since the 1992 edition in Morocco whilst also playing in the championship for the first time in 27 years since they last participated in 1994.
