Nigeria has marked her 60th Independence anniversary in a grand style and colourful events.
At the event which held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari took the salute and the inspection of Parades of the Armed Forces, Police, Para-Military, the National Youth Service Corps and the Nigerian Legion.
The event also witnessed performances involving both the military and the Civilians showcasing the struggles and challenges the nation had passed through and ways in which those challenges were resolved that made the the country to remain one united nation.
Also at the event was the Air Patrol by the Nigerian Air Force with military aircrafts attached with a banner congratulating Nigerians on a successful 60th Independence Anniversary.
Part of the celebration was also the 21 gun salute marking the epoch making ceremony and the signing of the Independence Anniversary Register by President Buhari accompanied by top government functionaries.
Former Military Head of State,Yakubu Gowon and Former President,Goodluck Jonathan attended the event.
Earlier, President Buhari in a nationwide broadcast had appreciated Nigerians for entrusting him with the responsibility of taking the country to a greater level.
The President re-committed himself to the service of the country noting that Nigeria was bound by destiny to be the greatest and the largest black nation on earth.
