Niger Delta Students in UK cry for help.

24 July By Lawrence Afolabi.

The Nigerian Students’ Union in the United Kingdom has appealed to the Ministry of the Niger Delta, Niger Delta Development Commission and the Central Bank of Nigeria to release tuition and maintenance fees of 210 Niger Delta students on scholarship in the United Kingdom.

This is contained in a statement by the National Coordinator,Yemi Soile.

The union Laments that most Niger Delta students have been locked out of the online portals of their institutions due to non-payment of tuition fees.

It says the step was taken after the universities had written many letters to the NDDC without any response, a situation which forced the Universities to  give tight deadlines to the students to make payment or face repatriation.

The Union expresses regret that many students had to take up menial jobs to survive but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many employers closed down or reduced the number of their staff.
